What camera do you use and what's a affordable camera for beginners in the $200—$400 range
[edit]@Materialscientist photograpsher student here! (And any tips for better photos that only photographers know.) Tokeamour (talk) 05:56, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry for mobile keyboard goofy typo Tokeamour (talk) 06:03, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- I did follow the camera market and related news, but this was more than a decade ago. I bought my camera and lenses second hand, but always in person, so that I could guess or ask why the discount. This worked for me. Anyway, with your budget, you'd better go for 2nd hand, one camera with one lens, aiming for a large discount and ignoring any preferences for a particular DSLR brand. If no luck in person, can try ebay or aliexpress. Keep in mind that you do need two batteries (one in camera and one spare), and a charger. A lens cover is highly recommended. If you don't get it, do make your own cover out of some plastic cap. Materialscientist (talk) 08:26, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist I did loan a R10 once from my school (which is out of the budget) and that thing is pretty good, just don't want one that will steal my data when I upload it in jpeg on my computer or phone. Tokeamour (talk) 19:53, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- I could probably do some haggling on eBay and get a cheaper one. Tokeamour (talk) 19:54, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist Also generic is good from what my teacher told me (generic battery). Now is it good in the long term for a camera? Tokeamour (talk) 19:56, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist Also since I have a military ID (which gives me the right to enter military bases) can I post pictures from on base on to here? (If so the website would have 200 new military photos) Tokeamour (talk) 20:04, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- My previous neighbor was also incharge of the whole bases security which gave me more areas to be in. Tokeamour (talk) 20:06, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- Okay you know what I'm going to make a list of my questions so I don't keep replying.
- Can I take photos on United States Armed Forces Bases if I have a dependent issued ID?
- Can I use generic all the time or will that decrease the lifespan of the camera?
- What photos of the military are illegal to publish?
- Should I wait till Black Friday for cameras to be for sale?
- (Also I use the EOS R10 at the moment provided by my teacher)
- Tokeamour (talk) 20:12, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
- Also im looking for EOS R10 like camera its just so out of budget !
