@Yann: As I have stated in connection with my upload of this photo of Erik Reitzel-Nielsen I consider it to be in the public domain with no copyright just like the similar photo File:Hans_Carl_Bryld.png uploaded by me in September and now accepted by Wikimedia Commons. I refer to this undeletion processː Commons:Undeletion requests/Current requests#File:Hans Carl Bryld.png. The result of this process was that the photo of Bryld which had been nominated for deletion by you and subsequently was in fact deleted from Wikimedia Commons was undeleted - by you as I understand it. It is therefore astonishing that I am once again confronted with a nomination by you regarding deletion of this photo of Reitzel-Nielsen as it is indeed quite similar regarding time as well as lack of artistic merit as the photo of Bryld. According to Danish law on copyright the rights to a photograph only remain with the photographer for 50 years after the photo was taken as long as the photo cannot be considered to constitute a genuine work of art which is definitely not the case for the photo now in question. Accordingly the photo is clearly in the public domain in Denmark. As the photo of Bryld was accepted by Wikimedia Commons I presume that there is no issue either in relation to US copyright legislation regarding the photo of Reitzel-Nielsen. If there is an issue I would be grateful for specific information on the nature of the problem. Yours sincerely Moj1948 (talk) 18:30, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Moj1948: Hi, OK fine. You didn't add a license when you uploaded the file. When you fix the license, you can remove the warning. I did it for you this time. Yann (talk) 18:43, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
Raisa Vasilyeva
Articles in multiple languages deemed a cross-wiki hoax and deleted, but there's plenty files in Category:Raisa Vasilyeva, I'm unsure how to proceed, thanks in advance. TherasTaneel (talk) 19:58, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
- @TherasTaneel: Hi, I deleted most of the files uploaded by globally locked users. For the last, you should open a request for check user on Commons, or on Meta. And you can request a deletion with some arguments. I will help if all users are blocked or locked. For the articles, you have to request deletion of each project. Gibellina - Piazza del Comune
Hi Yann, thank you for the undeletion of File:Gibellina - Piazza del Comune 2.jpg. I just wanted to point out that I didn't know that in the image it was depicted also the sculpture by Mimmo Rotella on the right (the rock wheel). The sculpture is AFAIK still under copyright. If it is de minimis for you then no problem, but I just wanted to make sure that there was no misunderstanding on the matter... Friniate (talk) 21:49, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Friniate: It can be cropped out. Yann (talk) 14:23, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- you're right... I've added the relevant license templates for the building. Friniate (talk) 14:52, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Friniate: I cropped out the sculpture. Yann (talk) 16:04, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Yann Thank you very much! Friniate (talk) 16:14, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Friniate: I cropped out the sculpture. Yann (talk) 16:04, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

File:Tony Caunter in Flowers for the Living 1954.jpg
Hi Yann. Could you take a look at File:Tony Caunter in Flowers for the Living 1954.jpg? I really doubt it's the uploader's "own work" so the CC license is almost certainly wrong; not sure, though, whether this might be PD for some reason per COM:UK. FWIW, I tried finding the image to try to figure when it was taken (it looks like it might be a PR photo from a play) online but couldn't find it anywhere. There's also an extracted crop from this image. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:01, 15 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Hi, Yes, this is certainly not own work. And you are right, it looks like a play. I can't find a copy on Google. So I can't say more. Yann (talk) 16:02, 15 October 2025 (UTC)

RfA
Hello, I wanted to ask for your opinion. Do you think I should apply for adminship on Commons? Since you’re already an experienced administrator, your opinion is important to me. I have a good understanding of licensing rules (especially in Central Asian countries), and from time to time I participate in DR. After becoming an administrator I also plan to work on CSD and RfR. I am already an administrator on the kywiki, but there I mostly handle technical tasks and sometimes act as a mediator.
The main reason I’m considering requesting admin rights is that there are no administrators from my region — that is, from Central Asia. I could easily handle requests in languages such as Russian, Kyrgyz, and other related languages (see Robert Lindsay, p. 9). I will also ask other administrators for their opinions and summarize their feedback before deciding whether I should apply for adminship or not. Incall talk 16:49, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Incall: Hi, I think you would be a good admin, but you should wait a bit. You just got the license reviewer right in May, and template editor right in September. You should work on deletion requests, so that people may know what you can do. Yann (talk) 17:09, 19 October 2025 (UTC)

Deletion of Claude Auclair photo
Hi, I uploaded a photo of Claude Auclair that was removed immediately. I uploaded the photo after talking to several sites that use the same picture. I've been told that the photo was in an old French magazine, it was taken by a Dutch fan, and has been used on several websites. How did you check the photo's license so quickly? I found it very hard to find out. Now, there is a Claude Auclair photo that is available on the back cover of his books. Is that one public domain? Thanks Danielvsousa (talk) 18:11, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Danielvsousa: This picture is still under a copyright. So unless you have a formal written permission from the copyright holder, which doesn't seem to be the case, you are not allowed to upload it on Commons. The copyright duration is 70 years after the author's death, so it won't be in the public domain before a long time. Yann (talk) 18:15, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- Nobody knows about that photo. Give the photo a change.
- What about the back cover photo from the Simon du Fleuve comics books? It has been around since 197x, all over the world. That would deserve the same vigilance? Danielvsousa (talk) 18:44, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Danielvsousa: Yes, it is the same for back cover photo. You could try to contact the publisher. For an old picture, you have a chance that the copyright holder agrees to releases it under a free license. Yann (talk) 18:48, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

Speedy category move (October 2025)
Hi Yann! It's been 19 days since I've placed two category move requests at User:CommonsDelinker/commands (to move Category:Indian Space Research Organisation and Category:People associated with the Indian Space Research Organisation), but these categories haven't been moved as of now. On the other hand, I managed to get moved five categories at English Wikipedia related to ISRO. Is there any process I've missed? Please guide me. – 𝙰𝚔𝚜𝚑𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚟™ 🗿 08:47, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi. I believe you are responsible for the deletion of this image. Could you please undelete this. The image was derived from this image, which I believe it attributed and made clear. So suspicions of it being a copyright violation were unfounded. It is also, as the source image explains, not copyrightable under Israeli copyright statute (2007).
Thanks. Escape Orbit (talk) 13:25, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
- OK, I undeleted it and created a regular DR instead. At least it deserves a proper discussion: Commons:Deletion requests/File:Graffiti Tel Aviv, Khayim Ben Atar St - zoom.jpg. Yann (talk) 14:14, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Deletion of File:Logo Admiralengroep.png
Hi! Some time ago I uploaded this file and you deleted it due to a lack of copyright information. I Looked up what the copyright status of the image is and it is in the public domain, could you please undelete it? GuardianCat (talk) 11:49, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- @GuardianCat: Hi, And why would it be in the public domain? It seems you copied the file from the Internet, and you didn't provide a license. Yann (talk) 13:12, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

Hi Yann, you blocked this IP for 3 years for vandalism. We're getting a lot of false positives for people trying to create accounts from this range at COM:VRT, if maybe you could narrow the range or unblock the range that would be helpful. —Matrix(!) ping onewhen replying {user - talk? - uselesscontributions} 17:38, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Matrix: If you look at the block log, you can see that it was justified. That was 2 years ago, so the issue may not exist now. So I removed the block. Let's see how it goes. However I may reinstate the block if vandalism occurs again in this range. Regards, Yann (talk) 19:20, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
